CHAIR’S REPORT

Carers Tasmania’s service delivery arm, Care2Serve, delivers supports and services to Tasmanian Carers. This includes supports under the Australian Government’s Carer Gateway program, as well as the Tasmanian Government’s Home and Community Care program.

In 2022/23, Care2Serve delivered workshops, retreats, education, and peer support to our carers. We provided one-on-one counselling and coaching sessions, and organised domestic and in-home care, respite and emergency care. While delivering these supports, Care2Serve staff were also out in our community, celebrating our carers during Carers Week, engaging with government agencies and service providers, and implementing marketing campaigns to encourage carers to reach out for help all year round.

I am incredibly proud to Chair the Board of Care2Serve. I am privileged to work with strategic group of Directors, who bring their many years of experience, their capability and importantly their compassion to the table at each meeting. This year, we welcomed Director Andrew Paynter to the Board, and farewelled Director Jarrod Kean.

During the year, the Board developed a new Strategic Plan 2023-25, to chart our direction for the coming years, and to ensure we maintain our focus on delivering services to support our carers, while maintaining a stable organisation and a secure funding base.

As part of ensuring sound organisational governance, Carers Tasmania and Care2Serve under the direction of the Board, achieved Australian Service Excellence Standards accreditation in 2023. In addition, our ongoing relationship with Working It Out was integral to achieving Rainbow Tick accreditation in 2023, making us the second organisation in Tasmania to hold this accreditation.

None of the achievements outlined in this report would be possible without the outstanding work of the Chief Executive Officer during 2022/23, David Brennan, the staff of Care2Serve, and of course, the 80,000 carers that Care2Serve works for.
